Speaking

I began speaking at events in the 90s. In 2008, I started documenting the journey.

Selected Talks

WordCamp Baltimore 2017 Q&A with Corey Brown
WordCamp Baltimore is one of my favorite WordCamps. At the 2017 Camp, I spoke on setting up a WordPress site and building traffic through integrating social, email, and community to reach your intended audience. Here’s the video of my talk.
I was selected to be the keynote speaker at KiKi L’Italien’s BOLD event, an association-focused event on community building and more. My talk focused on No Treble, and our 10+ year run of creating an online magazine with a thriving community of bass players – and how that relates to member-based organizations.
Frederick Startup Community Talk
I started noticing the Frederick (Maryland) Web Tech community on Meetup in 2011 thanks to their great discussion topics. One of the organizers is Paul Wilson. Paul suggested I could share some of the startup efforts I’ve been involved in: Squidoo, No Treble, Bright Cowork, and Refresh Winchester.
I love speaking about community building, publishing, technology, and start-ups.
