Speaking at Refresh: (Still) Building Traffic with Passion, Social Media & Engagement

Building Traffic with Passion, Social Media & Engagement

I’ll be speaking at the November Refresh Winchester meetup on a topic near and dear to my heart: building traffic. The talk is a follow-up to my February 2010 talk on the same subject – focusing on No Treble, which had launched less than a year before that original talk. In the years since, No Treble grew to even greater heights, and I’ll share what worked, what didn’t, and how the web (especially the social web) had changed since then.

Here’s the event description:

In early 2010 (February, to be exact), Corey Brown shared some thoughts on building traffic through passion, social media and engagement. At that time, the Refresh announcement shared some stats about No Treble, “a web site that went from 2,000 to 30,000 monthly visits in 9 months.”

Less than two years later, No Treble is the most read bass magazine in the world – online or off – with close to 200,000 visits (about 100,000 unique) per month and 73,000+ Facebook fans.

While much of the platform and focus has remained the same, there have been many changes to the way things work, how things work, and the tools used to make it all come together.

In this new discussion, Corey will share what’s worked, what’s worth paying attention to, and to tie it in with our recent WordPress talks – how WordPress can play a huge role in all of this.

Topics will also include specifics on running a successful Facebook page, the role of content, and the tools used to make it all hum.

As always, bring your favorite beverage – one for you and a few to share, invite a friend, and be sure to RSVP so we know how much pizza to buy.

Hope to see you (and a friend) there!
